We are looking for an experienced Accountant to join our accountancy practice and work directly with a Director of the business. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is ready to take greater ownership of client work, support the management of an established portfolio and provide a high-quality, proactive service to owner-managed businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing statutory accounts for owner-managed small companies
• Preparing company tax returns
• Preparing self assessment tax returns
• Providing practical business advisory support to clients
• Working directly with a Director and taking responsibility for work delegated from their client portfolio
• Assisting with the day-to-day management of the portfolio, including client communication, deadlines and quality of service
• Using cloud accounting software to maintain efficient and accurate client records. Providing advice to and report to clients.

About you

• At least two years’ experience working in an accountancy practice
• Qualified or part-qualified, or qualified by experience
• Strong experience in statutory accounts, company tax returns and self assessments
• Confident working directly with clients and taking ownership of assigned work
• Commercial awareness and an interest in providing business advisory support
• Experience using cloud accounting software; Xero experience is preferred
• Well organised, accurate and able to manage competing deadlines
